About DSIP
Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide was isolated in the 1970s from the blood of sleeping rabbits, and named for the effect it produced: an increase in delta wave activity, the slow-wave stage where physical recovery, growth hormone release and memory consolidation concentrate.
That focus on sleep quality rather than sleep onset is what distinguishes it from most sleep aids. DSIP is not researched as a sedative; the interest is in the architecture of sleep once you are in it, which is why it is usually chosen by people who fall asleep fine but wake unrefreshed. It also has a research interest in circadian regulation more broadly, which is why it appears alongside Epithalon in some protocols.
