Most anti-aging ingredients come with extravagant promises and modest science. GHK-Cu is the opposite. It has decades of serious research behind it, a remarkable range of biological effects, and until recently it has largely flown under the mainstream radar.

What Is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu stands for Glycine-Histidine-Lysine Copper. It is a naturally occurring tripeptide (three amino acids: glycine, histidine and lysine) that binds to copper ions. Naturally occurring GHK-Cu concentrations in the body are highest in young adults and decline significantly with age. At age 20, circulating plasma levels are typically around 200 nanograms per millilitre. By age 60, this has fallen to around 80 nanograms per millilitre. This age-related decline tracks closely with the deterioration in tissue repair capacity, wound healing and skin quality that characterises biological aging, which is not a coincidence.
What Does GHK-Cu Actually Do?
The breadth of GHK-Cu's effects is one of the most striking things about this compound. Rather than working through a single mechanism, it appears to act as a broad biological signal for tissue renewal and maintenance. Research has documented effects across several domains.
Collagen and connective tissue synthesis
GHK-Cu stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and the proteoglycans (such as hyaluronic acid) that make up the extracellular matrix of skin and connective tissue.
