What Is a Peptide?

Think of it like this: amino acids are individual Lego bricks, peptides are small structures built from a handful of those bricks, and proteins are the large, complex constructions made from thousands of them.
Your body already produces hundreds of peptides naturally. Hormones like insulin and oxytocin are peptides. Growth hormone-releasing hormone is a peptide. Even the signals your cells use to communicate with each other are often peptide-based.

Are Peptides Legal?
This is a nuanced area, and the answer depends on where you are, what the peptide is and how it is being used.
In South Africa, most peptides exist in a grey regulatory area. They are sold as research compounds rather than pharmaceutical products, which means they are not approved drugs but are also not explicitly scheduled substances in most cases.
Some peptides, such as Semaglutide, are regulated pharmaceutical products when used as prescription medications. Others, like BPC-157, have no pharmaceutical approval anywhere in the world but are widely used in research contexts.

What Makes a Peptide High Quality?
